It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth “Kenny” Platt, 64, of Carmel, NY on February 18, 2023.

Kenny was born on April 22, 1958 in the Bronx, NY to Walter R. and Edna (Joyce) Platt.  After graduating high school from St. Nicholas of Tolentine, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Herbert H. Lehman College in 1981.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in White Plains, NY after 30 years of service.

On October 5, 1985, he married the love of his life, Sheila E. Keegan, at St. Brendan Church in the Bronx, NY and they were blessed with four wonderful children.  Family was the most important thing to him and he was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and friend to all.  Kenny was very social and enjoyed many different passions.  His greatest passion after his family was music; he especially enjoyed his favorite radio station, 107.1 The Peak.  He loved the outdoors, whether it was swimming, scouring for treasures at the flea market, feeding the birds, or gardening – he was extremely proud of his lawn and his garden, which featured 10-foot-tall sunflowers and delicious tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, to name a few.

Kenny is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila, his children, Melissa, Alison, Kevin, and Julia.  He is also survived by his five siblings, Sister Margaret Ann Platt, Nancy Talleyrand, Richard Platt, Joan O’Reilly, and Christine Platt Mandracchia, along with his brother-in-law, Denton Keegan.  He is also survived by his loyal canine companion, Bailey.

Kenny was a true Renaissance Man.  He will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.

A  Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate Kenny’s life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February  24, 2023 at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY.
