James A. Goins, III, 57, passed away unexpectedly at Northern Dutchess Hospital on Monday, February 27, 2023. Much loved son of Joyce M. and Vincent H. Bruck. He was born in Kingston, June 17, 1965.

Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo as he was known, graduated from Onteora High School in 1983, where he played JV and Varsity basketball. As a young boy he had a passion for building things. He often spent hours pounding nails into boards, and sometimes the floor too. He pursued his love for building and started his own construction business.

Over the years he worked on home construction and built his first home, a log cabin in the woods. Jim loved NASCAR, especially #8 – Dale Ernhardt, Jr. He collected his memorabilia, which he proudly displayed. He always loved things that moved fast, cars, trucks, atv’s and he himself was always in motion.

In addition to his parents, Joyce and Vincent Bruck of Freehold, NY, Jim is survived by a son, Michael V. Goins and his wife Nicole, their children, Emmet and Charlie, his grandson.; a sister, Laura A. Bruck-Hillas and her husband Chris, their children, Jessica, Anthony, Natalie and Jaclyn of Crestview, Florida; a brother, Douglas R. Bruck and his wife Jeanette, their children, Laney and Sam of Round Top, NY; many aunts, uncles and cousins survive; also, his former wife Kim Gibbons Oliver, mother of his son of Sawkill, NY.

Jim was most proud of his son Michael, who recently graduated from the Ulster County Police Academy.

Jim will be sadly missed by his mother, who was always there for him, and his Dad, who always got him out of a jam. He is always loved and finally “free”.

Visitation will be held at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, NY on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm followed by a service at 4:00 pm, conducted by Reverend Rick Snowden, pastor of the Community Life Church in Catskill, NY. Burial will take place in the Hurley cemetery at a later date.
