Gerald “Gerry” Haight, 80, a lifelong resident of Pleasant Valley, died on March 17, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York on November 11, 1942, he was a son of the late Harry and Florence (Foote) Haight. On September 10, 1966, he married Barbara J. Tripp. Mrs. Haight survives him at home.
Gerry is a graduate of Arlington High School and Dutchess Community College. He was a proud veteran of the Army National Guard, a life member of the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Company #1, and a founding member of the Pleasant Valley Rotary Club. In addition, he was a chairperson for the Charlie Johnson Memorial Foundation.
Gerry was the proud owner of Pleasant Valley Agency, Inc., retiring in 2014.In addition to his wife, Gerry is survived by his two sons, Daryl A. Haight, and his wife, Sue, of Pleasant Valley, and Bradley of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren, Natalie, Brianna, Sebastian, Aidan, and Caitlin, all of Pleasant Valley; brothers, Richard of Pleasant Valley and Donald of Florida; sister, Ann Bull of Pleasant Valley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gerry was also predeceased by his siblings, Harry, Robert, Zola, Jean, and Shirley.
Visitation will be held on March 22, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley. A Funeral Mass will be held on March 23, 2023, at 10:00 am, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 808 Traver Road, Pleasant Valley, with the Reverend Heather Sisk officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Gerry’s family would like to thank the staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Hudson Valley Hospice for the excellent care, compassion, and support they provided to him during this difficult time.
