George Louis Tuttle passed away peacefully on 03/13/2023.

George was born in Carmel, NY on October 24, 1927, to Frances and Earl Tuttle of Brewster. He attended Brewster Schools and graduated in 1945. After high school he joined the navy in 1946 where he spent 3 years traveling to many places in the Pacific including Hong Kong. When he returned from the service, he made the decision to attend the University of Vermont under the GI Bill. He graduated in 1954.

At UVM George studied world history which led him to a 30-year career as a schoolteacher for North Salem Middle School. A popular teacher that was dearly loved by his students. He always made current events a priority and stressed the importance of reading a newspaper. He also graduated from the University of Bridgeport during that time where he received a Master’s degree.

George held a second position as judge for the village of Brewster.  He held that elected position for over 30 years.  He was well known for being a fair and honest judge, a “judge with a heart”.

George was a person of high integrity, a scholar of which we were all constantly learning from. He had the best sense of humor and generous heart. His favorite past time was the game of golf.

George was predeceased by his wife Valerie, his brother Earl, and sister Mary. He leaves behind a daughter, Cynthia, son-in-law Patrick, and granddaughter Brittany. We all loved and cared for him very dearly.

There will be no public visiting hours at this time. Arrangements for a service will be later this spring.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.
