It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Carmine Palombella, 73, of Mahopac and Bronx, NY on May 12, 2023.
Carmine was born on September 26, 1949, in Abruzzo, Italy to the late Luigi and Antonina (Verticchio) Palombella. He came to the United States with his family in 1964.
Carmine married the love of his life Annette (Iovieno) on October 18, 1980 at St. Raymond’s Church in the Bronx, NY, and they were blessed with three children.
Carmine earned his Bachelor’s Degree from City College of New York. He worked as a Bus Maintenance Supervisor for the MTA. He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and carried on his Italian traditions with his family. He loved pairing his homemade pasta with his wife’s gravy for Sunday dinners. His specialties were his manicotti, cavatelli, and gnocchi! Every year, he would plant a delicious vegetable garden and make homemade wine. He enjoyed watching the Yankees and Rangers, and on Sundays he could be found either barbequing or watching the Giants, Jets, and Steelers. He loved working with wood and creating furniture pieces for his family. He was always listening to music and fixing something.
Carmine is survived by his beloved wife Annette, and his three loving children, Michael and his wife Jennifer; Melissa and her husband Sal; and Marielle and her husband Mike; along with eight cherished grandchildren, Salvatore (10), Juliet (8), Bella (6), Carlotta (6), Marco (6), Alessandra (4), Allison (4), and Marina (1). He also leaves behind his dear brother Tony Palombella.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 418 Route 6 (GPS US-6), Mahopac, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate Carmine’s life will commence at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 225 East Lake Blvd, Mahopac, NY.
Following Mass, Carmine will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, NY.
