BEACON – A 40-year-old Poughkeepsie man has been arrested by City of Beacon Police following several incidents of buildings being spray-painted in Beacon last week. The arrest is the result of a week-long investigation by the Beacon police, according to Police Chief Thomas Figlia.
In the pre-dawn hours of September 21, 2024, a suspect spray-painted large letters on several Main Street buildings in Beacon. The investigation resulted in a vehicle being identified as the vandal’s vehicle.
On September 27, 2024, Beacon cops spotted the vehicle and performed a traffic stop. During the stop, Poughkeepsie resident Richard Bulson was identified as the spray-painter and taken into custody.
Bulson was charged with three misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and three misdemeanor counts of making graffiti.
He was processed and released on an appearance ticket for a future appearance in Beacon City Court.
“Making graffiti on other people’s property is plainly illegal. The Beacon Police Department takes cases of vandalism like this seriously and will use any available resource to investigate and make arrests for these crimes,” Chief Figlia said following the arrest.
