BEACON – State Senator Rob Rolison visited with workers at the Fishkill and Teller Avenue, Beacon  rehabilitation project on Thursday to check on the progress of the multi-million-dollar project that has been decades in the planning stages and started in June 2024.  The $9 million project is 95 percent funded through federal and state transportation grants, according to Beacon City Administrator Chris White, who anticipates the project to be completed by July 2025.

White said the work is being performed by Gianfia Corp. from Westchester and they have been “very responsive to the city’s needs on all aspects of the project.”  Gianfia uses union labor from Laborers Local 235 and Senator Rolison visited with them on Thursday.

“This is an enormous undertaking,” Rolison said, “and everything is moving in the right direction.”  Rolison, when serving as mayor of the City of Poughkeepsie, considered infrastructure improvements “vital to the city’s economy,” he told Mid-Hudson News.

Administrator White noted that potential exists for extending the project.  Beacon is currently negotiating to extend the sidewalk replacement work further from Blackburn Avenue towards the Town of Fishkill border if funding allows.
