PINE BUSH – A 44-year-old Pine Bush man is in serious condition at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill after his 2015 Chevy Silverado truck crashed through the Dunkin Donut’s building on Route 52 in Pine Bush early Thursday.
Pine Bush Police Chief Dominick Blasko said Eric Schrader’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 52 at about 12:40 a.m. when it entered the westbound lane, left the road, and struck the Dunkin’ building, crashing into the center of the structure. No one was inside at the time.
The building was severely damaged, preventing responding officers from gaining entry until rescue units arrived.
Pine Bush Fire Department, Orange County fire control, and Monticello Professional Firefighters Association members who are part of the Orange County Technical rescue Team worked to rescue Schrader, who was rescued at 2:30 a.m.
Chief Blasko said he sustained severe head injury and other injuries.
The Town of Crawford Building inspector declared the building unsafe and has issued a demolition permit.
The property owner has since begun the demolition process.
