MONTICELLO- The inverted glass represents that they will never be able to toast with us. Remember,” said Seven Walsh, Sullivan County Veteran Service Agency director. “The empty chair represents that they are not with us. Remember.”
During the ceremony Walsh recognized 99-year-old World War II Veteran Martin Feldman.
“The people of Sullivan County and the Office of Veteran Services want to thank Mr. Feldman for his service that transcends time,” Walsh said.
Feldman, who was at the event, was humbled by the recognition.
“I’m honored that they did this for me, but I don’t know what I did to deserve it,” Feldman said laughingly.
