MONTICELLO – The former Sullivan County Jail and Sheriff’s Office site on Bushnell Avenue in the Village of Monticello is being sold to a developer who plans on constructing housing on the property.
The county legislature last month approved the sale of the property behind the county courthouse to developer Mendel Stern for $100,000.
The property has been declared surplus since the new sheriff’s office complex was constructed, paving the way for the sale.
The sale is working its way through the legal paperwork process with no closing to date, said county spokesman Dan Hust.
