HAWTHORNE – The American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter is helping 21 people after fires in Westchester and Rockland counties between December 26, 2023 and January 2, 2024.
Four households with seven people were assisted after a fire on Primrose Avenue in Peekskill on December 28.
Five households with seven people were assisted after a fire on Highland Avenue in Mount Vernon on December 29.
On December 30, two people in one household were assisted on Laurel Road in Nyack.
And one household seven people were assisted following a December 15 fire on Central Drive in Stony Point. They were helped on December 30.
In each instance, the Red Cross provided emergency assistance including financial aid to meet the families’ immediate needs.
The Red Cross also typically provides information packets regarding recovery resources and guidance, cleanup kits, comfort kits with personal care items, snacks, water and other items as needed.
