NEWBURGH – Graft Cider’s new $1.3 million production facility, The Orchard, has opened in the City of Newburgh.

The company has redeveloped the former Powder Creek Mill textile manufacturing complex to grow its manufacturing operations into a 16,000 square foot production and distribution facility with a testing lab and equipment to ensure better tracking and quality control.

Mayor Torrance Harvey said this is another shot in the arm for the city.

“That is a big step in the economic development, which is also part of the master plan for the city and a part of our revitalization because that Graft Cidery plant and its expansion and its expansion and employment opportunities and economic stimuli for the City of Newburgh,” he said.

Company owner Kyle Sherrer said the new project “will create job opportunities for the local community while also expanding our brands.”

Graft Cider produces a portfolio of artisan ciders and all-natural wine spritzers, and the new facility will allow the company to house larger tanks that increase production capacity to accommodate growing demand.

The state’s Empire State Development Corporation kicked in a $264,000 capital grant.

As part of the expansion, the company is expected to create eight new jobs and retain 13 existing full-time positions.

Graft Cider relocated from its original Ann Street location.
