ELLENVILLE – A 35-year-old Ellenville man was charged on Wednesday with attempted murder for allegedly trying to kill his mother.

Ellenville Police were called to 19 Roslyn Street where they found a woman suffering from serious injuries with apparent knife wounds to her neck.

Officers leaned the suspect, identified as her son, Jordan Cutler, was still in the house and armed with a knife.

He was ordered to come outside and drop his weapon, which he did, and was taken into custody.

The victim was treated at the scene by Ellenville Rescue Squad personnel, taken to Ellenville Regional Hospital and airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla where she was treated and expected to recover, police said.

The investigation revealed that Cutler placed his mother in a choke hold and attempted to render her unconscious.

When that failed, he took a knife and sliced her around the neck in an attempt to kill her.

The weapon was recovered.

Cutler was charged with attempted murder, assault, strangulation and criminal obstruction of breathing, all as felonies. He was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Cutler was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

Ellenville Police were assisted by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office and the State Police Forensic Investigation Unit.
