TOWN OF FALLSBURG – Residents who live on Rose Road in Woodbourne believe a newly formed limited liability company, YNHK, registered in Brooklyn, is breaking the law by constructing new buildings on the 51-acres of farmland in violation of local zoning codes.
Keith LaHanko has lived in the area for 50 years and he is upset that the farm has been sold and maintains it is being developed illegally.
“The new owners here bought that property and started building. There is no way they could have got a building permit that fast. I came to find out that they didn’t,” he said. “As far as I am concerned, everything they are doing is illegal.”
Jerry Skoda farms 200 acres adjacent to what was formerly known as Hobby Horse Farm where the alleged illegal building is taking place.
He has a message for town officials.
“If you don’t enforce these rules, you might as well close the office. Why have a building office if you are going to selectively enforce,” he said.
Town Supervisor Katherine Rappaport did not return a call for comment.
The property owner, Jacob Horowitz could not be reached for his side of the issue.
