TOWN OF WAPPINGER – Republican Dutchess County Legislator Joey Cavaccini appears to have beat current Wappinger Town Supervisor Richard “Dick” Thurston in Tuesday’s Republican primary.
The Dutchess County Board of Elections reports that Cavaccini received 613 votes to Thurston’s 468 ballots.
Cavaccini will face Democrat Robin Licari in the November election.
“I am honored by the support from everyone in our town tonight,” Cavaccini said, adding “It truly showed that the residents of the Town of Wappinger are not to be pushed around by special interests.”
Legislator Cavaccini said his platform for the November election includes a plan to invest in town parks and further enhance and improve the town’s infrastructure.
