Democrat James Rogers, a political newcomer, unofficially won the Working Families party primary on Tuesday night, narrowly defeating Dutchess County Family Court Judge Joe Egitto.
Rogers collected 75 votes and the incumbent, Judge Egitto, had 67 votes cast in his favor.
The two will square off in November for the Family Court Judge seat in Dutchess County.
