NEW ROCHELLE – A Brooklyn man, who was working in construction in New Rochelle, was arrested on Friday and charged with felony assault and two counts of misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.
Thirty-year-old Taajwar Guerrier was arrested in connection with the stabbing. The name of the victim was withheld by police.
Shortly after 11 a.m., a New Rochelle Police officer on a traffic post at the intersection of Division Street and Westchester Place spotted a man walking near him who was in apparent distress and suffering from a stab wound.
The officer rendered first aid and called for an ambulance. The victim was transported to a hospital in serious, but stable condition, police said.
Detectives investigated, identified Guerrier as a suspect and took him into custody without incident.
