MID-HUDSON- After several days of low quality air alerts and warnings from officials for people with compromised health to say indoors and mask, the haze has finally lifted from the region. The Canadian wildfires were the source of the smog that blanketed the area for days.
Mid-Hudson News caught up with area residents about their reactions to the unprecedented weather conditions that impacted the region last week.
When asked about the smog, Kenneth Gibbs who is from Queens said, “I’m breathing a lot better, but I still have a scratchy throat from it. My throat was sore a little bit, and it was kind of rough.”
Dylan Alexander from Fallsburg and his son Finley were in Wurtsboro and had this to say, “It is much more pleasurable being outside now, it is much more fun.” Speaking about his son, and other children, he added, “They can finally run around, they were having a hard time the last couple of days but it’s been a lot easier for them.”
Some people even said that the haze made them feel like they were in a science fiction movie. Overall, everyone is breathing a bit easier now and are thankful that blue skies have returned.
