GREENVILLE – A 78-year-old Middletown man was killed when the 2009 Toyota Camry in which he was a passenger was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado at the intersection of Mountain Road and Route 6 in Greenville.

State Police identified the victim as Nemesio Barrera Tello, who was a back seat passenger in the Toyota.

Troopers said the car was traveling southbound on Mountain Road, driven by Silvia Rodriguez, 39, of Middletown, at around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday when she failed to stop at a flashing red light, continued through the intersection, and was struck by the Silverado that was traveling eastbound on Route 6.

A second passenger in the Toyota, Victor Ordinola Moreno, 60, also of Middletown, and Rodriguez, were transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and declined any medical attention.

The crash remains under investigation.
