CARMEL – Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne has named Michael Lewis as the commissioner of finance. Lewis has been serving as chief deputy commissioner since 2021 under the leadership of Commissioner Bill Carlin, who has since retired.
Byrne said Lewis “brings a dedication to fiscal responsibility that is desperately needed to ensure the continued effective financial operation and management of our taxpayer dollars.”
While Carlin has officially retired, he has agreed to stay on through the remainder of 2023 in an advisory role to the administration, at minimal expense to taxpayers, Byrne said. Carlin will assist the county in developing its first budget without him for nearly 34 years.
