POUGHKEEPSIE- On Tuesday, July 4, the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization is again offering the public a one-of-a-kind unobstructed view to see the City of Poughkeepsie’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display from 212 feet above the Hudson River in Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park.  Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Walkway will open to ticketholders only to experience this unique vantage point.  Tickets, which sell out in advance of the event every year, are on sale now at walkway.org/fireworks.

Walkway members, seniors, and veterans can purchase tickets for $20, while the public is invited to attend for $25. Children under 12 are free, however they must be registered at walkway.org/fireworks and valid passes are required. Every guest entering the park after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, including children, needs to have a ticket for admittance.  All proceeds support the Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization and its mission to host community programming, add amenities to Walkway Over the Hudson, and more.

“There’s no better way to celebrate Fourth of July than by viewing an amazing professional fireworks display, and there’s no better location to see fireworks in the Hudson Valley then from Walkway Over the Hudson,” said Lori Robertson, Executive Director, Friends of the Walkway.  “We’re pleased to continue this wonderful annual tradition of opening the bridge to family, friends, and the entire community.”

On Tuesday, July 4, Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park will begin closing procedures at 4:30 p.m. for setup and safety preparations.  It will reopen at 6:30 p.m. to event ticket holders only.  The fireworks display will begin between 9:00 p.m and 9:30 p.m, and the Walkway will remain open for one hour after the conclusion of the event.

If the event is postponed due to severe weather, the fireworks will launch on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.  Notification will occur via walkway.org and the Walkway’s social media channels.

Please note that tickets have sold out in all previous years.  No tickets will be available for purchase on-site at the event.
