POUGHKEEPSIE – Dontay Brown, the 23-year-old Poughkeepsie man who was stabbed on Sunday, June 4, died at the hands of his roommate, the victim’s father said.
In a GoFundMe page, Halford Brown said his son died in “a senseless act of violence” when he was “involved in an altercation with his roommate, which ultimately led to his untimely passing due to the injuries inflicted upon him.”
Dontay Brown’s alleged killer, Andrew Alex Fraser, 32, has been charged with murder after he was tracked down and arrested in Brooklyn.
The Brown family is raising money to return their son’s body back to his native Jamaica to be laid to rest.
The family described Dontay as “a beacon of joy and light in the lives of those around him. His infectious smile, compassionate nature, and unwavering determination touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
