Ceremonial groundbreaking for new exhibits at Storm King Arts Center in New Windsor

NEW WINDSOR – Governor Kathy Hochul came to the Storm King Arts Center in New Windsor on Tuesday to announce that 19 arts venues across the state will receive a total of $90 million for upgrades and expansions.

Among them is the Storm King Art Center where she made the announcement. That facility will receive $7.5 million for new amenities.

“We want to make sure that arts and culture remain indispensable as part of the New York story and that’s what this commitment is all about and will always make sure we do that,” she told guests while speaking on a lawn among large sculpture exhibits.

John Stern, whose family founded the Storm King Arts Center, said the new funding will be put to good use with new exhibits.

State Assemblyman Chris Eachus, a retired physics teacher in the Newburgh school district, said some of his best science students were also musicians and artists.
