NEWBURGH – Robert McLymore, a pastor, Wallkill town police lieutenant and candidate for Newburgh City Council, has condemned a shooting on his block in Newburgh in which two people were struck. “We detest all kinds of violence in our community,” he said.

The incident occurred early on Sunday morning, after a prom party organized by his wife for one of his children ended at his house.

In a Facebook statement, he said the unknown suspects were not guests at the prom party and he is “extremely outraged that this happened.”

He said, “Fighting against gun violence and all senseless incidents of violence is one of the reasons why I’m running for office.”

McLymore said the shootings took place long after his family’s party ended and that no one invited to the gathering was believed to have been involved in the shooting incident.
