NEWBURGH – With the balance of power expected to shift when the Newburgh School Board reorganizes this month following the recent elections, the current board has on its Tuesday agenda resolutions to extend the contracts of its top administrators.

If they are approved, that would protect their employment in the district should the new board majority have any thoughts of not renewing them when their current contracts expire.

A resolution was to be on Tuesday’s agenda that would have extended Deputy Superintendent Ed Forgit’s contract for one year through June 30, 3026. His current agreement is set to expire in mid-2025. He subsequently pulled the item off the agenda.

The current contract for Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, Michael McLymore, is set to expire on June 30, 2024. An extended contract, if approved by the board, would bring his employment security to June 30, 2027.

A third contract, for Assistant Superintendent Christopher Bayer, would extend his agreement by three years, ending on June 30, 2027.
