Alleged fentanyl dealer arrested by drug task force

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 23-year-old Poughkeepsie man has been arrested by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force on a charge of criminal sale of a controlled substance for allegedly selling fentanyl in the area of Academy and Montgomery Streets in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The investigation that led to the arrest of Mackenzie Arias took place for several months.

He was held pending arraignment in Poughkeepsie City Court.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than32 morphine.

Fentanyl and cocaine have been linked to an overwhelming number of overdose deaths in Dutchess County.
