GOSHEN- Students from Goshen have returned home from the Odyssey of the Mind (OM) World Finals as champions. They placed first among hundreds of teams that gathered from around the world to test their skills at different OM problems.
The finals were held at Michigan State University, where approximately 250 teams competed. There were five different problems and four divisions, based on age. The competitors from Goshen were named world champions in division three problem three, “The Walls of Troy.”
From the region, teams from Warwick, Middletown, and Goshen also competed. Goshen’s team was coached by Heidi Siligman, who has accumulated three world titles as a coach.
Goshen’s team competed against high school students from around the globe with a team that was comprised of high school underclassmen as well as some middle school students. The competition drew teams from as far away as Poland, Japan, South Korea, and Switzerland.
