Hang glider crash injures pilot

PINE ISLAND – A 25-year-old Bloomfield, New Jersey resident suffered minor leg injuries when the motorized paraglider he was piloting crash landed after striking a tree in the Town of Warwick.

Town and State Police responded to the scene of the 6:30 a.m. incident on Wednesday along with Pine Island EMS and the Pine Island Fire Department.

Police said the paraglider crashed in a field near Mt. Eve Road and Pulaski Highway.

Police did not release the name of the pilot who was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel.

The incident is under investigation by the Warwick Town Police Department.
