KINGSTON – The measure to raise the nation’s debt limit to avoid default appears to have Hudson Valley Congressman Pat Ryan’s vote.

A deal was struck this weekend between Democratic President Biden and Republican House Speaker McCarthy.

Ryan, a Democrat, is leaning toward supporting it.

“I read the whole bill; it’s 99 pages, so I am reviewing it now. We’ve both got to divert default, but also make sure we support our national security, our veterans and we don’t hurt vulnerable people – kids and seniors in particular,” he said.

The measure protects those populations as well as protects Medicare and Social Security.
