Memorial Day at Washington's Headquarters in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – Broadway in Newburgh was lined with spectators on Monday as the annual Memorial Day parade marched to Washington’s Headquarters to remember those who gave their lives for America’s freedoms.

Master of Ceremonies Brian Denniston, Grand Marshal Ray Harvey, and representatives of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and Boy Scouts laid floral tributes at the grave of Uzal Knapp, the last surviving member of George Washington’s Life Guard at Washington’s Headquarters.

St. Nicholas Church donated the floral cross. Dominique Parenti made the wreath, which she donated with Keith Hallock, and various motorcycle groups donated more than 500 flags which they gave out to children along the parade route.
