PEEKSKILL- On Friday, May 19, 2023, approximately 10 volunteers from Turner Construction teamed up to give back to the Northern Westchester community by volunteering at Fred’s Pantry, a service provided by Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill (CHHOP).  This act of kindness took place in honor of Turner Constructions’ 121st anniversary.

Every May, Turner Construction Company recognizes its Founders’ Day, a celebration of the anniversary of Turner’s Founding, with a company-wide day of community service.  Turner employees actively engage in a wide variety of community partnerships throughout the year, sponsoring and participating in programs focused on youth and education, food insecurity, homelessness, and improving the viability of local, minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses.  This year, members of the NYC Turner Construction team chose to give back to those in need at Fred’s Pantry.

Fred’s Pantry operates on a “farm to pantry” model and provides fresh food that is served to approximately 1,300 people weekly.  Every item stocked in Fred’s pantry is vetted to ensure that it is healthy and relevant to consumers.  At CHHOP, it is believed that no matter a person’s housing or economic status, everyone has the basic human right to access healthy food.  The Turner Construction team spent the day restocking shelves and sorting produce to help ensure that those who rely on Fred’s Pantry receive the critical services that they rely upon.
