State offers funding to provide summer jobs for disadvantaged youth

ALBANY – More than $47.1 million will be available to support the state’s summer youth employment program this year, helping an estimated 18,500 young New Yorkers gain experience in the workforce.

The program introduces young people from low-income families into the labor market so they can develop valuable skills that will help them improve their educational performance and become responsible adults.

Young people interested in participating in the program should contact their local department of social services.

Program funding available in the region this year includes:

 

  • Columbia County – $112,518
  • Delaware County – $124,708
  • Dutchess County – $535,230
  • Greene County – $117,722
  • Orange County – $841,523
  • Putnam County – $91,897
  • Rockland County – $745,802
  • Sullivan County – $197,083
  • Ulster County – $353,105
  • Westchester County – $1,425,549
