GOSHEN – A 38-year-old resident of Newburgh was sentenced on Tuesday to 3 ½ to seven years in state prison on her* guilty plea to vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of a local vascular surgeon.

As alleged in documents filed and statements made in court, Ezzial Williams was speeding on Route 32 in the Town of Cornwall on October 10, 2021 when she crossed over a double yellow line and crashed into the vehicle being driven by the victim.

Prior to driving, Williams had smoked cocaine, some of which was recovered from a crack pipe found in her belongings after the crash. She admitted during her plea that she was impaired by the drug at the time of the accident, was speeding and crossed into the opposite lane of travel, causing the doctor’s death.

“This case is another example of the horrifying outcomes we often see when combining drugs ands driving,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.
