TOWN OF NEWBURGH- State police have arrested a man and woman from the Capital Region for possession of cocaine and driving while impaired on the Thruway in the Town of Newburgh.

Police observed a black Toyota Rav4 with Massachusetts plates traveling north on the Thruway in violation of several vehicle and Traffic Laws.  Troopers stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as Tayshon Smith, age 27 from the city of Troy and his passenger as Sha Liea Brown, age 22 from Albany.  While speaking with troopers the operator appeared impaired.
