A dozen locals turned out Sunday to welcome the asylum seekers to the Town of Poughkeepsie

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Despite an Executive Order and State of Emergency banning hotels in Dutchess County from accepting migrants from New York City, two groups arrived in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday.

The Red Roof+ hotel on South Road received two buses of migrant passengers.  The rooms are being paid for by New York City under its migrant relocation plan.

The owner of the Red Roof+ also owns the Holiday Inn, a much larger hotel further south on Route 9 in the town.
