Leader of Newburgh street gang pleads guilty to murder

WHITE PLAINS – A 34-year-old Newburgh gang leader pled guilty in federal court on Wednesday to ordering a juvenile to shoot and kill a member of a rival gang. The youth did pull the trigger killing Deandric Little of Newburgh on August 1, 2016.

Ardae Hines, the leader of the Southside street gang, also pled guilty to narcotics trafficking, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced later this year.

According to the allegations against Hines, to retain its stronghold on their criminal enterprise in the area of South and Chambers Streets in Newburgh, the Southside gang members and associates committed, conspired, attempted, and threatened to commit acts involving murder, assault, robbery and other acts of violence; possessed and used firearms; distributed drugs including crack cocaine and heroin; and committed acts of intimidation and made threats to deter and punish potential witnesses to0 their crimes.
