GOSHEN- The Orange County Department of Mental Health has announced a virtual program for parents entitled “Connecting with your Children.”  The program is free and will take place on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom.

This interactive, virtual workshop will help build active listening skills and enhance relationships.  Protective factors are safeguards to keep children functioning well at home, in school, and in their community.  Building strong relationships is essential to provide strong protective factors for families.

During the workshop, attendees will learn about the Five Protective Factors and why the connection is so critical for relationships with children.  Attendees will work to gain an understanding of Active Listening and I statements and learn tips and tricks on ways to build rapport with young children.

This workshop will also be a great way to connect with other parents and caregivers from around the region.

The program is being held in conjunction with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County.
