SAUGERTIES – After an investigation, Saugerties Police arrested 52-year-old John Monaghan of Saugerties Friday on a misdemeanor charge of harassment following a domestic dispute that allegedly occurred on April 4, 2023.
The victim reported on April 7th that she had been assaulted by Monaghan at a West Saugerties-Woodstock Road address in Saugerties on April 4th. The investigation by officers revealed that during a domestic dispute, Monaghan had placed his hands around the victim’s neck, compromising the victim’s ability to breathe. Monaghan grabbed the victim’s arm aggressively, throwing the victim out of the residence. In doing so, Monaghan left several bruises on the victim’s arms.
Monaghan was arrested by officers on Friday and was charged with harassment. He was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court and released after the court issued a full stay-away order of protection on behalf of the victim.
