POUGHKEEPSIE – A Thursday raid by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force  at an apartment in the City of Poughkeepsie resulted in the arrests of two suspected drug dealers and the seizure of narcotics.  The raid was the result of an investigation into complaints of drug dealers operating in the area of North Clinton and Maple Streets in the city, as well as several recent overdose deaths according to task force Detective Sergeant Adam Harris.

Jon Lowe, 36, and Sarah Thomas-Marron, 31, both of the City of Poughkeepsie, were arrested after  agents executed a search warrant at their 400 Maple Street apartment, at the intersection of North Clinton and Maple Streets on Thursday.  The two were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.  They were arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court.  Lowe was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail and Thomas-Marron was released to the supervision of the Dutchess County Probation and Community Corrections office.

“The Dutchess County Drug Task Force is aggressively investigating drug dealers who sell dangerous drugs including Fentanyl,” said Harris, adding “Fentanyl has been responsible for hundreds of overdose deaths in Dutchess County and has been found mixed with other drugs like crack cocaine and heroin.”

He noted that despite the perception, not all overdose deaths occur in Poughkeepsie.  “Investigations conducted by the Drug Task Force indicate many vulnerable community members suffering from addiction travel to this area to purchase narcotics and dangerous drugs from all over Dutchess County including residents from the Town of East Fishkill, City of Beacon, Town of Hyde Park, Town of Lagrange, Town of Pleasant Valley and many other communities in addition to the City and Town of Poughkeepsie.”

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force is made up of law enforcement investigators from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Beacon Police, the Town of Hyde Park Police, the Town of East Fishkill Police, and the City of Poughkeepsie Police.   Harris also said, “Police are working to prevent these senseless deaths by targeting drug dealers county-wide by using all available law enforcement resources.”
