GOSHEN – It’s a sign of a growing economy in Orange County. Sales tax revenue is up by 17.7 percent over budget in March, County Finance Commissioner Kerry Gallagher reported to the legislature’s Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday.

Year-to-date, sales tax grew by 17.4 percent, and she said the county has collected $5.7 million more so far this year than last year.

Gallagher could not say specifically which sectors of the economy were driving the increases, but lawmakers were pleased with the gains.
