Pennsylvania man arrested for three robberies in one day

CENTRAL VALLEY – A Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania man has been arrested by Woodbury Town Police for allegedly committing an armed robbery of the Sunoco-A-Plus store in Central Valley as well as two other armed robberies in New York and Pennsylvania on the same day.

Police said in the early morning hours of March 18, a man, later identified as Giancarlo Garcia, 37, pulled a gun on the store clerk in the gas station and stole a large sum of cash, several cartons of cigarettes, lottery tickets and an employee’s cell phone.

During the initial investigation using video surveillance and stationary license plate readers, a vehicle and suspect were identified.

It was later determined that he had committed two other armed robberies in New York and Pennsylvania.

On Friday, March 24, with the assistance of the Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, New York State Police Town of Poughkeepsie Police, and police in Palmer Township and Wilkes-Barre City Police in Pennsylvania, Garcia was arrested.

He appeared before a US magistrate judge and was remanded pending a bail hearing.
