GOSHEN – A Newburgh man was convicted in Orange County Court on Friday to criminal possession of a weapon.

Nicholas Palm, 29, faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in  prison when sentenced by Judge Craig Stephen Brown in May. The minimum sentence he faces is elevated based on a prior conviction for illegal gun possession in 2018.

As alleged at trial, on July 29, 2022, police responded to the area of Fullerton Avenue in Newburgh where they found Palm with a loaded 9mm gun in his pants pocket.

“Dangerous guns in the hands of dangerous recidivists are a recipe for disaster,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.
