GOSHEN – A woman only identified as “Ms. Q,” an immigration activist, New York resident, and asylum seeker targeted for deportation by ICE, has been ordered released from the Orange County Jail on $10,000 bond, according to Critical Resistance, a California-based group.

The organization said her release “comes at the end of a long fight that included a lawsuit and several actions to obtain a stay order and then three additional months of continued actions from supporters to ensure her release from ICE custody in Orange County Jail.”

The group said Ms. Q will now be able to seek a hearing on her asylum “from the security of her community.”

In a statement released by her attorney, Ms. Q said she is going to “keep fighting to change immigration laws for all detainees who are still detained and are going through the same thing I went.”

Critical Resistance said that last year, Ms. Q “because a target after she spoke out against the horrific conditions inside ICE detention that impacts hundreds of immigrant New Yorkers every day.”
