WALLKILL- Town of Wallkill Police have arrested Faith Illenberg, 56, of the Town of Wallkill and charged her with criminally negligent homicide, a felony, in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on April 7, 2022, on Route 211.

Police report that they were called to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle collision on Route 211 East near the intersection of Camp Orange Road.  Upon arrival, police discovered the victim, Montgomery resident Jean Kallus, 57, seriously injured.  Upon further investigation, police determined that the vehicles collided head-on after the vehicle that Illenberg was operating veered into the oncoming lane.  Both women were transported to the hospital, but due to the severity of her injuries, Kallus died three days later.

The investigation was conducted by the Town of Wallkill Police Department along with the New York State Police and the case is being prosecuted by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.  The defendant was issued an appearance ticket and released pending a future court date.
