KINGSTON- The City of Kingston Historic Landmarks Preservation Commission and Heritage Area Commission have given approval to new uses and improvements at 311 Wall Street, the 35,000-square-foot former Woolworth building in historic Uptown Kingston.

William Gottlieb Real Estate, the owner, plans to create two new retail storefronts and a flexible special event space at the location.  The storefronts will preserve the existing historic façade of the building and provide opportunities for new businesses to open on Wall Street.  The flexible event space will also be used for art shows, performance art events, seminars, film production, and other community gatherings.

Approved improvements also include new signage and parking lot renovations.

“As we build and expand on the vibrancy of Uptown Kingston, we look to the City’s past to draw inspiration,” said Corbin Plays, Principal Designer and Owner at Grayhorse Inc.  “We are honored to work with the City of Kingston Planning Board, the Heritage Area Commission, the Historic Landmarks Preservation Commission, and the Ulster County Planning Board to improve 311 Wall Street, which will in turn bring in new businesses to the area.”

311 Wall Street is part of Kingston Studios, which will bring events, streaming and film production, and other pop-up activities to Uptown Kingston.

William Gottlieb Real Estate has been a local Kingston community partner for many years.  The company owns and operates residential, office and retail spaces throughout the Hudson River Valley, New York City and other areas of New York and Massachusetts.
