Newburgh man sentenced for illegal gun possession

GOSHEN – A 21-year-old Newburgh man was sentenced in Orange County Court on Wednesday to nine years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision in connection with his guilty plea to criminal possession of a weapon for illegally possessing a firearm.

On July 20, 2022, Newburgh City Police responded to reports of shots fired.

Aljean Cromartie was observed on street cameras in the vicinity holding a gun.

When police executed a search warrant at his residence, they found an illegally possessed loaded 9mm pistol next to him.

He later made admissions to police that he fired the gun during the incident in July.
