Law enforcement will be looking for impaired and intoxicated drivers.

ORANGE COUNTY – District Attorney David Hoovler issued a reminder on Thursday for county residents and revelers to make plans for safe transportation for St. Patrick’s weekend.  Friday, March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, and those celebrating are expected to stretch the revelry through the weekend.  Hoovler noted that law enforcement will have increased and enhanced patrols on the roadways to identify and stop drivers who are impaired or intoxicated.

“Between St. Patrick’s Day and exciting March Madness basketball games, there is plenty to celebrate this weekend,” said Hoovler, adding “and the excellent eating and drinking establishments throughout Orange County will be crowded with people having a good time.  But don’t let those good times result in preventable and terrible outcomes.  Far too often we see the choice to drink and drive end with arrest and prosecution, let alone injury or death to other motorists or pedestrians.  Our dedicated law enforcement officers will be out on the roads to protect us all.  Do your part and arrange for safe transportation home and do not get behind the wheel of a car after you have been drinking.”
