Beekman firefighters save residents and home from flames

BEEKMAN – Quick work by the Beekman Fire Department, with the assistance of mutual aid departments, prevented a bedroom fire from destroying a house on Wednesday evening.  There were no reported injuries to civilians or first responders at the Pratt Drive incident.

The Beekman Fire Department responded to the 911 call for a possible house fire on Pratt Drive at 6:51 p.m.  When the first personnel arrived on the scene they observed flames in a bedroom window and promptly requested a second alarm at 6:56 p.m., bringing additional fire departments to the scene.

All of the occupants of the residence were evacuated from the building and firefighters contained the blaze to a single bedroom, according to the Beekman Fire Department.

Beekman was assisted by the East Fishkill Fire District, Union Vale Fire District, Pawling Fire District, Lagrange Fire District, Empress EMS, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response,  Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and NYSEG.

The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Unit responded to the scene at the request of fire officials.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
