SAUGERTIES – A Town of Saugerties man who had just bailed out of the Ulster County Jail days earlier on burglary charges, is back behind bars on new charges.

Town police responded on September 2 to a home on Malden Turnpike for a report of a burglary to both the home and garage.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed evidence connecting the burglary to a string of burglaries that occurred in the fall of 2022 throughout the Town and Village.

As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Kirk Shultis on a felony burglary charge.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail, $500,000 secured bond, or $750,000 partially secured bond.
