Poughkeepsie man nabbed in armed gas station robbery

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail after he allegedly committed an early morning armed robbery in the Town of Wappinger.

Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Shell gas station at 1813 Route 376 at around 5:15 a.m. on Monday, March 6 for a report of an armed robbery.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a man, later identified as Joseph Wrubel, 18, allegedly entered the business, pulled a gun, and stole cash and merchandise before fleeing on foot.

Investigation by sheriff’s detectives led to his identification and arrest later in the day.

Wrubel has been charged with felony robbery, was arraigned and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office weas assisted in their investigation by Town of Poughkeepsie Police.

The investigation is continuing.
